NOMAD
Nomad is a new kind of travel planner, built for the long term traveler on a budget. Nomad takes specifications such as budget, duration, travelers, and preferences, paired with your choice of trip outline, to create a multi-destination trip planned just for you.
Nomad was a bootcamp project created individually inspired by my personal love of travel and need for a budget friendly itinerary planner made for the long term traveler. Nomad prioritizes real-life constraints such as budget and active hours to create a realistic, fully customized trip of a lifetime.
Problem
Most travel apps are catered towards short term trips, ie. less than two weeks, and don’t prioritize real-life constraints as a primary travel concern.
Solution
Nomad directly serves long term travelers on a budget who want to see as many places as possibly without breaking the bank.

Usability Study
In this phase the basic iteration of the design was conceptualized and then used for user testing when it was re-iterated on based on user feedback and refined for per aesthetic direction.
Three primary pain points were identified:
Overcrowding
Users had issues finding key features due to overcrowding and expressed a clear want for a more hierarchical minimalistic structure.
Navigation Flow Errors
There were some issues with the navigational flow in the initial prototype.
Feature recommendations
Some participants' expressed dissatisfaction with certain features which helped to cut down and further iterate on features to make the product better meet user needs.
Next steps
This project needs much more extensive user and content testing move it to a more refined and polished state in order to iterate on the copy, create real content, and define image placeholders.
1
Test this product against a wider and more diverse user pool.
2
Further subject specific research to finalize the product’s copy and content.
3
Conduct a content specific study.
What I Learned
I learned how to create an easy to use customizable responsive interface that caters to a specific audience’s needs. Throughout this project I learned how to create a responsive website with menu, navigation, and layout options to be optimal on a variety of screen sizes. Furthermore, I learned how to emulate a design aesthetic and mesh it with a concept at hand. Lastly I learned that it is okay to rework your designs as many times as necessary to ensure the users needs are met.
Thank you for reading my case study!
