Camp Fox Logo & Identity

Camp Fox is a summer camp hosted on the beautiful shores of Catalina Island for kids and teens. I had the opportunity to give the camp a visual refresh including their logo and some other brand assets!

As a past camp-goer myself, I had a lot of fun with this project. I wanted the final visuals to be something that a camper, young or old, would be happy to wear on a tee or sweatshirt!

After doing some research I found that Catalina Island is home to a lot of really cool wildlife. Including a furry little guy aptly named the Catalina Island Fox. I knew I wanted one of the concepts to feature a fox, of course, so this is where I'd pull my inspiration.

Foxes, as I soon found, have a really unique body shape that kind of threw me for a loop at first. At first it was a little too chubby (seen bottom right) even though the actual foxes are very fluffy. After some tweaking we got to a final product that felt right! Playful, active, and ready for fun.

The rest of the visual identity centers around a slew of badges and buttons that feel familiar to campers. I wanted to provide them with an array of lockups and layouts that could be used for any use they might need.

In my research on the project I also found this really cool shot of the campgrounds. It felt like the perfect subject for a large illustration. Something you'd see on the back of a sweatshirt or something.

It was a bit out of my comfort zone, something organic that also has to somewhat resemble reality. In the end I'm happy I stuck to it as they were super excited about it! And yes, they did end up slapping it on some sweatshirts.
