Chrysalis Identity Materials
Chrysalis was a self-initiated branding/identity design exercise I started this past weekend with a strict deadline of midnight on Sunday. I had two days to build and develop a brand from scratch, needless to say, I didn't get as much done as I wanted to.
I picked the name because as I'm getting older, I still feel I’m at this point where I’m unsatisfied with everything I make and I keep wondering when I will start to not hate the work I put out. So in hopes that putting in a lot of hours can make up for lack of talent, I’m just going to start doing as many projects as I can think of.
So before I started off sketching, I gave the name it’s purpose of a Gems/Rock/Geology store in Alpine, Texas. I’ve attached a PNG of the pieces of the process I’ve saved (sketches, initial computer excecutions, color testing, other assets, basic brand guidelines and colors).
In the end, it was very rushed and I missed out on a lot of refinement that could have taken place. I'm not happy with a lot of it but I think it was great in terms of forcing me to make quick important decisions and to trust my gut. In the future, I would love to revisit this and make it better.
