Cover Design Challenge; 55th Edition of Creative Gaga Magazine
Artwork Title: Organised Chaos, (Un)divided Space
Challenge Brief: to create artwork in 1:1 ratio for 55th edition of Creative Gaga magazine 'Power of Print', in collaboration with HP India, inspired by any traditional indian art style on any topic of choice for the cover of 55th edition of Creative Gaga magazine.
Inspiration: Combining Rajput miniature paintings with Mughal and Pichhwai elements, this artwork depicts the essence of the multiple lockdowns and curfews that we have all been through since the beginning of the pandemic.
Although we were all in our individual spaces, each of us experienced a similar sense of confusion and mayhem. We did our laundry, we slept either for hours or not at all ; we took up niche interests like gardening and reading for a week or two, before moving onto the next ‘it’ thing. We cooked, yet we had more food delivered to our houses than ever. Even though we tried to keep it all separate and compartmentalised, our bedrooms became our offices, our work-desks became our dining tables, and our emails and messages followed us everywhere, all the time. This artwork recognises the essence of that organised chaos by portraying not just one individual’s (un)divided space, but all our separate spaces too, each doing their own thing. It is the bigger picture, and the details as well.
