LIBRERIA - room divider

Project Libreria is a glass modular room divider that was created in collaboration with LASVIT. My goal was to minimalize any modification of the glass by itself while maximalizing Libreria ́s modularity and variability in it ́s composition. Libreria consists of aluminium frame that is easy to assemble and an unspecified number of glass sheets that are variable. The concept of Libreria is the need for knowledge and for a way to preserve it as long as possible. This „knowledge“ is represented quite literally by a stylization of an open book, only it ́s pages will stand the test of time. These pages are meant to carry all sorts of knowledge and information represented by different textures and colors of the glass sheets. The design itself is heavily inspired by brutalist architecture representing the monumental colossi that are withstanding the test of time. The design also utilizes the practicality of brutalist architecture in it ́s repeating patterns that allow something to potentially continue endlessly with slight variations. To me, the potential of Libreria is in it ́s unlimited possiblities when it comes to the installation itself as well as the material use. That includes waste glass from previous projects, recycled glass and so on.
