Suzumebachi • 雀蜂

This is the Shikai form of Soi Fon’s blade, Suzumebachi.

Suzumebachi (雀蜂, ; Hornet): In it’s sealed form is resembles something of a Wakizashi, donning a yellow hilt, something that is similar to that of a Japanese dao. Unlike other Soifon, Soifon keeps it sheathed horizontally across her back, kept in place by a rope.

Shikai: It’s release command is “Sting all enemies to death” (尽敵螫殺, Jinteki Shakusetsu), Soifon holds the sword with her right hand as it glows with a white light and shrinks around the middle finger and wrist of her right hand. As the glow fades we can see that Suzumebachi is a gauntlet coloured yellow and black connected to a “stinger” on her middle finger via a chain. The name Suzumebachi could thus refer to the Japanese Giant Hornet.
