GameTrusty | Video game reviews website design
The starting point
While working on this project as a UX/UI Designer, my task was to design a web portal dedicated to video game reviews from certified authors of GameTrusty.
I enjoyed working on this project as I have been a fan of video games since I remember, and it was a great experience to use my UX and UI skills while working on this web project.
User research
To make my design user-centric, it was crucial to start my work with user research to understand the need of the target audience. As I am a gamer myself and most of my friends are gamers too, it wasn't hard for me to find the right people to interview and get an idea of what type of interface they like the most and what other gaming portals they use.
Most people I interviewed mentioned popular video game digital distribution services such as Steam, EpicGames, Play Station store, Origin, and Ubisoft Store.
In terms of video game reviews, websites and other game-focused websites, people have mentioned such names as IGN, PC Gamer, GamesRadar + and Metacritic.
User-centred design
Based on the data from my initial user research, I could come up with clear insights about the target audience and the product I was creating. This information was crucial to design a user-centred product due to my understanding of the users' desires, behaviour and preferences.
Design Process
By using Figma, I started my design process. Initially, I began sketching, later turning to low-fidelity design and step-by-step. I was raising the fidelity of my prototypes until I reached the final result.
Design Process
Even though GameTrusty does involve a lot of UX work, I would say that UI makes this project stand out in my portfolio. Based on the feedback from the users and stakeholders, my UI decisions turned out to be eye-catching and pleasant for users. I am personally satisfied with the fonts, colours, images and other graphical elements I chose for this project, especially how I found a way to communicate with the users visually.
