Hey everyone, yesterday I had a very unexpected reaction from a few followers. There was a huge backlash to my drawing of Evan Peters in his recent show, which was seen as glamourising his character. I wrote a caption when posting to avoid being misinterpreted, but I do understand that given the current discussion, it was seen as not the best art choice.However, I don’t understand a world where a drawing choice results in sending me direct hateful messages, let alone death threats and menaces to my family. I wonder why targeting people that are supposed to be on the good side of things. As a freelance artist with genuine good intentions, compassionate beliefs & an ally of the LGBTQ+ community, I am not (nor do I believe is anyone) able or required to endure such disproportionately personal attacks. I’ve removed the image, but am truly saddened by the immediate assumption of my character as an individual. Artists throughout the ages have depicted monsters and despicable characters in their pieces, but that does not mean they are fans - that being said, again, I can understand and see why in this current case it’s particularly sensitive material, glamourising was not what was intended. I meant absolutely no disrespect to the families or those affected, quite the opposite.
