PISA MAIS! ✸ Publishing and Editorial Design
This book is the product of my final graduation thesis on Architecture and Urban Design at the University of Campinas, whose title is "Pisa mais! Marking the Arouche as a territory of queer memory". This thesis analyzes the relationship between built space, sexuality and identity through history from a queer point of view and brings LGBTQ territorialities from the city of São Paulo as objects of study.
After theoretical foundations and urban analysis, the author proposes an intervention on the Arouche Square in order to legitimize it as a historical territory of queer memory and socialization. The project developed in this TFG consists of remodeling the public space of the square and implementing new buildings in the surroundings that mainly serve the queer community, with special attention to a new museum of queer art and memory.
The editorial design brings a reinterpretation of queer symbols - such as the rainbow pride flag and the shinning effect of sequins - and plays with elements thats represent diversity (”+”) and territory marking (”x”, contour lines).
