EskomSeWatt Widget App Concept

I created this app widget for a design competition hosted by OfferZen for the EskomSePush app, the idea is to display the local power cut schedules in South Africa as a widget on your home screen so that you wouldn't need to open the app to see the schedule. I won some cool socks, and we actually developed the app but ran out of API requests so it was only for a limited time.

I leveraged colour to help people see the stage quickly and easily. Since we are prone to recognising patterns , I made each widget state unique, allowing you to look at the pattern first before reading the content, this makes it more glanceable. The 55 min in the countdown widget is especially enlarged as it's the most important thing to see in the moment - knowing you only have 10 minutes to charge your phone before a 4-hour load shed is important.
