The Municipality of Rotterdam lets you register your move online via this portal.

Here's how I would improve it. Part 2/3 of a Rotterdam series.

Analysis (before):

• The sidebar is an unusual progress bar only showing steps after completion.

• House letter and number addition fields are confusing.

• Fields also do not follow best practices for auto formatting, labels, required or optional, size and default value).

• Buttons have unconventional positions, color, sizes and copy.

• The top right login block seems overcomplicated.

• The overall design does not feel very fine-tuned.

Redesign (after):

• A horizontal progress bar provides a lot of insight.

• One field for all house number suffixes plus a tooltip to avoid confusion.

• Applied best practices to fields: auto-formatting, top labels, required by default, value based sizes & default value.

• Adjusted buttons to fit their functionality.

• The top right has the DigiD information and log out easily accessible.

• Further visual adjustments (inspired by Gemeente Rotterdam’s homepage).
