A Bright Transition

Some years ago I found an old oil lantern at a thrift store; rusted and peeling, I wished to retrofit and restore it. I loved the idea of a lantern— a single source, purposed of lighting the way through darkness, and its innate, contained power to do good (and bad). I recreated the unique shape of the old thrift lantern, and brought it to life through Illustrator and roughly animated in After Effects.
