Whether online or in the physical world, our brains work very similarly. The cognitive processes in our mind - want to know where we are. That's why you hate being lost. Your mind simply can't stand it. Translating that online - means a GOOD UX will highlight location to the user - CLEARLY. With guidelines on how to navigate back & forth. And ultimately how to access information.

So, when navigating a complex blog, or long form text - our recommendation is to add an index navigation - allowing the user to scroll, or see valuable sections / section titles / headers. This allows the user to navigate the blog with ease. And not blind-scrolling or feeling overwhelmed by all the information.
