The Anguished Barber

Logo Design & Branding

Designer Pro Tip:  If you want to sell me on a project, present it in LEGO® format.

I was invited to a meeting to discuss logo design and branding for an Atlanta-based barbershop and bar whose opening was in progress.  To kick off the concept meeting, the owner (client) showed me his vision of the shop's layout which he created entirely out of LEGO® bricks.  The name for this particular project -- Georgia's first barbershop with a full liquor license -- was inspired by the Salvador Dalí painting, The Anguished Barber, a personal favorite of said client.

Following the "anguished" theme, I mimicked a frowning face with a falling teardrop off the “A” to create an asymmetrical look within the logo, and the colors were inspired by Dalí's painting itself.

Years later, not only is the business thriving, but it's a two-minute walk from my home and a great place to hang, even for this bald guy.
