Designlab UX Academy Foundations | Final 10h project (Mobile)

On a previous publication, I broke down the process into my final project where I created a desktop landing page and mobile app screens for Wayfarer, a travel website.

The company offers travellers a tool to discover new locations to visit around the world, whether they are in the planning stages or already on the move. Using data-driven recommendations, the user can receive recommendations based on their preferences, the type of holiday they are looking for, the time of the year, and the experiences they wish to have.

This service can be accessed on a desktop or mobile, but they can also download the app to use it on the move.

Mobile smartphone app for Wayfarer

This app aims to give travellers a way of accessing information about destinations while they’re on the move. While the way it was going to be used was slightly different from the desktop landing page, I ensured the designs of the sample screens were cohesive.

⦁ Screen 1: Sign in screen: This screen follows a simple process whereby you can log in once you download it or click on “Sign up” if you are yet to create an account. The user has the option to opt in to receive the newsletter at this stage as well.

⦁ Screen 2: Home/ List of destination: This screen welcomes the user with a personalised message. The user is presented with search functionality to start exploring, as well as the full menu where to access more advanced functionalities. They can also browse popular destinations or accommodation from two quick tabs. When selecting one of the destinations, the user is presented with the following screen.

⦁ Screen 3: A “detail” screen: It provides the user full information about a specific destination from our recommended selection. They can return to the previous step, add the destination to their bucket list (always accessible on the bottom nav) and browse through a number of images available. On this page, they can also explore the main attractions the location offers, as well as access more information such as where to stay, flights and how to travel within the place, etc.
