Case Study: BEATWAVE

Beatwave is an added feature to Spotify that works in conjunction to an Apple Watch or product that measures user's heart beat.

Please visit my portfolio for the full case study breakdown.

Below is a bullet point overview of the entire project.

• Duration: 4 weeks

• Goal: design innovative way of experiencing and sharing music.

• Human centered approach with focus on user's wellbeing.

• User interviews: music directly affects mood, thus why users choose different music for different activities throughout their day.

• Refined problem statement: HMW experience and share music more meaningfully?

• Ideation: in learning how the user's heart responds to a song, users choose songs that have a more meaningful impact to their mood and/or daily activity.

• Usability testing revealed pain points in understanding feature and how to use it.

• Hi-fi achieved better results in 2nd round of usability testing by improving iconography, copy, UI elements, added content and feature onboarding.

• Implemented features: ability to choose songs based on heart's BPM, listen to users collective heart beat within a timeline, daily schedule based on mood / BPM and view historic data of one's personal wave or the collective's.
