“Nga and the Glow Fish” from TALES FROM THE BOAT
“ Nga’s fingers tingled as she cupped them around the collection of tiny flames in her hand. With great care she began to, very slowly and very gently, tighten her grip; squeezing the ethereal fire made fish, until she felt she had a firm enough grip upon the beast. Even though The Glow fish was comprised of thousands of tiny dancing flames, like tiny suns, her hand remained cool and uninjured! She smiled for the flames kiss was no more than the flapping of 1000 tiny moths wings!” It almost tickled. As she slowly began to pull her captive through the small slit in the unseen film that, invisible to most, shared the air before her; dividing two worlds. She brought the glow fish fully into the seen with the slight “whiff” noise of sucking air. She held this amazing wonder up to closer examine the tiny flames undulating beneath it’s translucent, non-corporeal, vapor-like skin. A smile grew across her face, her skin tingled and began to warm slightly; like a stray sunbeam was spreading across her cheek. This experience ignited a trembling a rhythmic electric pulse of a feeling. It was something new, from deep within her being; a warm and pleasant feeling, that began to grow rapidly! As the electric pulse’s intensity rapidly increased within her, it was accompanied by the briefest sensation of dizziness, just behind her eyes. The Glow fish turned, tiny suns exploding in her palm; it wriggled in her hand causing the electric pulse inside her to overtake her senses entirely! Her sight was obscured by a flash of raw white light that rushed from her head through her veins ending in her toes; enflaming every cell along the way. She began to tremble as it washed over her, through her, completely! The Glow Fish burned white with excitement as she released her hold upon it. Her breath was in rapid and shallow gasp as she watched the creature of the Unseen swim happily into the South Pacific sky.
