I've been honored to paint a new model of BMW at Streetart Festival to celebrate the 50 years anniversary of BMW M series. We partnered together with Cartec Olomouc to make custom spray painting of this beauty beast BMW X6m. After names like Andy Warhol and Jeff Koons i was next who will paint #bmwartcar project.

Creative Process

I would like to show you how i usually work and get to know you little bit more about the whole creative process. 

1. Idea

I've been thinking how to handle the luxury BMW and not dehonest the beauty of the car itself. So i've decided to use my clothing design skills and bring the new coat to the car and work with the design as a cloth.

2. Sketch

I started to skech different compositions and tried to find the optimal and balanced coverage. Because whole car was white i decided to use warm colors with the elemens of luxury and free lifestyle.

3. 3D model

For my creative process im using pen and paper for initial compositions or rought sketches and then switch to iPad Pro with Apple Pencil 2 and mostly using Procreate app. The great thing is that procreate now supports 3D USDZ file so you can import the file and paint directly on the 3D model. And that was what i used for first time for real usecase as a designer. Although to get the model needs to little bit more time of searching over the web but finally i found some free model at sketchfab. Another issue was the UV texture. After import didnt work so i had to use Blender and smart UV to update the model and export to GLTF and then to USDZ. It take some time for sure but then you got all prepared and you can focus on the final sketch.

4. 3D Painting

Then when its all done with 3D and import works well in Procreate App then you can start to paint directly on the model and selected texture or part. You can even add roughness or metallic layer to the material

5. Spray Painting

Next day a selected exact colors based on the color scheme and wen to start paint in the car. I used Montana Gold spraycans because of acrylic paint, good coverage, matte colors and pastel vibe.

Starting with sketch by grey spraycan then coloring until the car was covered with rough spray painting. Then i used a black acrylic marker to do outlines and pop up the colors and let some parts of the car in white to be uncovered to get more contrast.

6. Video Shooting

During the painting we've been shooting the video of the whole process to be prepared for promotion on socal medias. We decided to make video primary for reels format of the social apps.

7. Presentation

Final product was presented at BMW special event also at Streetart Festival and different places around. Part of the presentation is promotion on social networks and go viral as much as it could be

8. Social Promotion

Part of the presentation is promo on social networks and the purpose is to go viral as much as it could be so now is the time for social media marketers:-)
