Comet is a fictional startup with the goal of revolutionizing the NFT marketplace. 💫

Through this innovative app, users can discover, buy, and/or sell digital art.

01 Approach

For a tech-savvy persona with a strong eye for visual aesthetics, I enhanced their marketplace experience through a design-first approach. The beautiful digital design is curated to modern tastes.

02 Design

Through mood board creation, I explored two different directions to refine the final concept. Ultimately, I settled for the [1] dark-mode, [2] synthwave aesthetic, which follows the current trend of 2022.

[1] The industry's top companies, such as Apple, Facebook, and Google, are using dark mode to create a more compelling and inclusive design for users as it produces less strain on the eyes and improves accessibility, attention, and focus.

[2] During this unprecedented time of uncertainty, Gen Z is tapping into childhood nostalgia and reviving the '90s and early 2000s.

I paired modern typefaces and a vibrant color accent to create a sleek, dynamic user interface. 

For dark-mode UI best practices, I referenced Google's Material Design.

03 Polish & Scale Design

Once I locked in the final concept, I created styles and components to efficiently scale the design. To make design hand-off easier, I organized an interactive UI Library as well.

05 Reflection

For this project, it was essential to think about how users discover, buy and/or sell digital art and extensively experiment during the initial design phase before settling on the visual direction to develop innovative ideas.

I greatly benefited from having my work critiqued throughout the process to improve it, and I'm still hungry for more feedback to sharpen my design eye!
