NFT Design Challenge

Challenge

Design an NFT marketplace app for a new and upcoming startup. Establish a visual aesthetic and scale across multiple screens. I was provided with a project brief, wireframes and in three weeks was to deliver five high-fidelity screens, a UI library, and a fully functional prototype.

Market Research

The first step I took was to compare some existing NFT marketplace apps. Through my research, I identified best practices, UI examples, and mental models to refer back to during my design process.

Wireframes

I was provided with five wireframes, along with the brief, to turn into high-fidelity screens.

Moodboard & Visual Direction

Next, I created a moodboard and started experimenting with visual styles, elements, components, and textures. I locked in the style, color palette, and started exploring visually and iterated until I came to a decision on the direction of the design.

Final Screens

UI Library

After finalizing my screens, I organized all the components into a UI library defining typography, color, grids, components, and modules. The UI library can be viewed here.

Prototype

Next, I made an interactive prototype connecting all the screens. I added some interactions like having the option to display images on the profile page horizontally or vertically, clickable follow buttons, and interactive heart icons to like an image. The full prototype can be viewed here.

Feedback and Iterations

I passed along my prototype to be tested and feedback provided valuable insight. Some of the users who tested thought the interactions between screens could have been smoother and more polished, and some wanted more interactivity. I refined my design, added more features, and changed the page-to-page transitions. I retested and feedback showed the changes made a measurable impact on how the users felt. The users thought the app looked clean, polished, and well-styled.

Final Thoughts

This was a fun design challenge to take part in and complete over three weeks. I learned a lot more about UI and design while creating these screens. It was challenging but rewarding to complete the tasks before the time frame requirement. In the end, I wanted to show my process and the product I ended up with.
