Mesosphere Host Groups

How do you visually represent a datacenter comprised of hundreds or thousands of machines? Let’s compound that by adding in the concept of multiple datacenters. This is the design problem we’ve been working through lately at Mesosphere as we inch towards our first release of the Mesosphere DCOS (Datacenter Operating System). While we’re working on a design solution to this problem, the super-devs here are tackling this from an engineering solution (holy shit these guys are smart).

The screen above is a pass at a screen we ultimately scrapped, where we attempted to group datacenter machines (hosts or nodes) into groups based on their configuration. I particularly like the count increment/decrement tools. Maybe it will make a comeback in a future release.
