Meet Feelings Monster

Meet Feelings Monster, a soft and fuzzy critter who’s more than just a cute face! Informed by student voice, color psychology, and myriad concept explorations, this color changing character boosts social emotional learning among students. By embodying and expressing an array of human emotion, Feelings Monster helps students understand their emotional patterns. It lives in apps like Microsost Reflect and, just as an illustration, represents over 50 nuanced words that students can choose from to describe their feelings.

As you can guess, the creative and animation process in designing a character to represent children’s emotions specifically was full of learnings and unique creative needs. On the Microsoft Design blog this week we dive into the process, inspiration, and research that brought this new character to life.
