Ashoka Vatika in Bengal Pattachitra Style
The Sundara Kandam of the Ramayana by Valmiki symbolises one of the most beautiful tales of loyalty when the mighty Hanuman flies across the ocean to Ravana’s Lanka and visits Maa Sita who is held captive there in the Ashoka Vatika.
As Maa Sita is scared to see a stranger kneel before her, he gives her lord Rama’s ring as a symbol of love and hope and asks Maa Sita to accompany him as he can save her and take her back to Lord Rama, however maa Sita refuse as she would only want her husband to have the glory of rescuing his beloved.
This beautiful tale has been showcased here in the Bengal Pattachitra style which is a folk art style from the interiors of West Bengal.
