Jon Dell Branding

Jon Dell (formerly Bonehart Flannigan) is an American songwriter, guitarist, and music educator. Although he currently lives in Brooklyn, his musical inspiration comes from the midwestern prairie where he was raised. Through research and discussions with Jon, I knew that his logo identity should be unique to his inspiration and represent him as an artist within the folk/americana genre.

The red-winged blackbird came to mind. It is a songbird native to the Nebraska prairie and can be found throughout much of North America. Due to it’s geographic prominence, it is recognizable, but has been underused in branding

subject matter, making it more unique.

Given its under-use, its tie to the prairie, and its beautiful song, it made a great symbol to represent Jon as an artist.
