Project Pinkshift

Project Pinkshift is the name given to the hybrid training-testing grounds ('Pink' and 'Shift', respectively) constructed prior to the release of BirdBots for purchase by civic organizations. The training grounds and testing environment for BirdBot were designed with the intent of overlap between the man-made 'Pink' and the BirdBot network-constructed 'shift'. As such the name 'Pinkshift' illustrates the continuous yet linear relationship between the environments designated by mankind for new autonomous machines and the manner in which these new mechanical societies act upon these environments to mold the world for non-human use. The above image captures one of the subtle distortions created by a flock of BirdBots in their test cycle, the product of new configurations of spatial data that bend conventional x-y-z planes. In this reconstruction, the space remains navigable to the human eye yet is enriched to BirdBots through the placement of visual information that encodes unique meaning to them yet is by and large unnoticed by human passerby. Material Exports offers this as proof of possible coexistence between two autonomous bodies - botkind and mankind - in the hybridized cities of tomorrow.

BirdBot is a product of Material Exports and may only be purchased by civic organizations with the necessary data sharing permissions. BirdBot is not available for private purchase at this time and is not recommended to be kept as a pet in the event that one gets disconnected from its flock.
