'Project BirdBot' - A product of Material Enterprises AM
Meet BirdBot, a palm-sized robot developed to autonomously monitor the health and distribution of the avian populations in big cities.
BirdBot's small size allows them to navigate busy metropolitan streets without interfering with human, animal, or machine traffic as they can speed along invisible "micro-highways" located between frequently-traveled pedestrian pathways. A BirdBot flock once deployed in a city can establish these micro-highways in under a week as each BirdBot in the flock relays data to a remote server tasked with compiling a complete map of the city. While Birdbots roam the city, collecting data on both the spatial organization and temporal patterns of its inhabitants, the central AI creates a digital "Smart City" that Birdbot's human handlers can use to help inform city planning decisions that could impact the avian population. The city itself also is reciprocally marked to enable correspondence between its digital twin created by the BirdBot network; Each Birdbot is loaded with its own onboard supply of ink which it uses to mark the city's surfaces to convey information to other Birdbots regarding data collection ranges so that observations are not duplicated.
BirdBot is a product of Material Exports and may only be purchased by civic organizations with the necessary data sharing permissions. BirdBot is not available for private purchase at this time and is not recommended to be kept as a pet in the event that one gets disconnected from its flock.
