When Life Gives You Limes

When Life Gives You Limes is a book about how to deal with things when they don’t go the way you planed for them to. I chose limes, both cut and whole, as the main design for the book to go along with the title. I chose cooler toned analogous colors. The cool tones were chosen because they represent calm and tranquility (what the author hopes their readers feel when reading the book). The limes are illustrated (by me) to give the book a more playful and lightheartedness to what is already a heavy book.

To create this cover, I first sketched it on paper with a pencil. I uploaded the image to Adobe Photoshop and made it transparent. I then vectorized it on Adobe Illustrator, added color, and text. I exported that image back to Photoshop where I made small adjustments to my vectorized drawing in order to better translate it to digital form. Finally, I placed the finish product with the completed cover to create the book mockup.
