Maply | Adding to the map

Maply is an event discovery app used to find what’s happening nearby in real-time (think live music, happy hours and food specials). I led design as we scaled to 23 cities in US, Canada and Mexico.

In the above UI, adding content to the map can be done with just one hand, this was important to our on-the-go users. We also found while reviewing data on existing user-generated content that most was related to (1) events in the area, (2) local questions like “what’s the best sushi nearby?” and (3) photos of interesting things people would see happening. This informed the three content circles on the right-hand screen.
