Making a fully featured mobile POS System for waiters. Which on the first glance sounds like a simple thing but turned out be quite an interesting challenge.

Traditional ways

Nowadays restaurants have to enter sales on a standalone PC, laptop or tablet and process payments on bought or rented Mobile POS Terminal. But in a current world of advancing technology came up a possibility to accept payments in all ways possible just with your smartphone. But how do you pack all the POS features that existed for years in a small smartphone screen and make it easy to use?

Upon looking at similar products I found out that most of the existing solutions are way complicated and simply unusable on a phone screen, ofter even requiring to use a stylus to make accurate adjustments. And almost none of the looks like a traditional desktop POS that consists of Grid style buttons and a sidebar with full order information. Our aim was to transfer it and deliver a very familiar experience.

Solution.

After many iterations we came to this idea of virtually splitting a screen in half. One of which is dedicated to an already familiar grid style POS and other one for order details with an ability to checkout. That can be switched with ease.
