038 Ninetales - Pokemon One a Day

Part of a series of 152 illustrations that sought to present the famous character creatures of the Nintendo hit franchise Pokemon in various new styles and direction. Ninetales broke the mold in the series in that it was one of the first "full-bodied" illustration and took up a lo tof the canvas.

The style for the day was decided early before I took the subject on - something Japanese inspired as Ninetales herself has qualities and is based off of Japanese lore. By mashing up the canine character with another Japanese character of lore, Amaterasu, specifically in the style of Clover Studio's Okami, I created a work that mimic-ed ink blotches and warm colors for a faded appearance.
