WOOF! A Dog Walking App Connecting Owners and Walkers

WOOF! is a dog walking app designed to easily connect dog owners to trustworthy walkers.

Many owners are busy and do not have the opportunity to walk their dog as often as they would like. This can be due to lack of time, mobility limitations, personal emergencies, or other restraints. WOOF! allows a user to easily book services for their pup! Services include walking, training, pet sitting, and grooming WOOF! offers

Research

To begin, research was conducted through interviews, taking a look at existing apps, and issuing questionnaires. Finding owners who have used other dog walking apps as well as owners who have not. What are existing concerns with using an existing app?

The concerns emerging from owners are trust, availability, and care quality.

User Flow

In designing a user flow it was important to allow the user to easily move through the app and quickly determine that WOOF! will provide any care they need for their dog.

Below are two user flows: one for a first time onboarding and a second flow demonstrating the flow to book a service. The goal of both flows is to create a simple and guided process for both onboarding and booking service.

Wireframing & Components

Next began putting the flows into a low-fi wireframe. The goal with this first iteration was to maintain functionality from the flows as well as visualize how the user would flow through the frames.

Intentionally designing components that allow for scaleability, consistency, and visual design was imperative.

WOOF! has visual design focusing on a sense of friendliness, trustworthiness, and inclusion. This was achieved through font, color selection, and drawn logo.

Visual Design & Prototyping

Implementing visual design consisted of taking the components and design library and applying it to the wireframes. This stage included finding things in the wireframes that did not work out, as well as discovering new ways to improve upon the original wireframe design.

Prototyping was a great way to bring life into the design and getting the opportunity to experience what the app will be like. A major contributing factor to this process was creating prototypes of the library components to make it possible for interaction.

Personal Takeaways

This project was really exciting to work on from the beginning research all the way through a working prototype. Being my first user design and product design project I consider this a success because I learned a lot and enjoyed the process.
