AFRICAN MODERNISM

It was a great experience for me to made the redesigned cover of this deep book about some African countries' architecture from their independence.About: Most African countries gained independence from their respective colonial powers in the 1950s and 1960s. Architecture became a major means for newly formed countries to express their national identity. Parliament buildings, central banks, stadiums, convention centers, universities, and independence memorials were all constructed, frequently to heroic and daring designs. At the same time, these structures exemplify the difficulties, contradictions, and dilemmas that these countries faced during their nation-building process. For the first time, this groundbreaking new book investigates the relationship between architecture and nation-building in Ghana, Senegal, Kenya, Côte d'Ivoire, and Zambia. It includes over a hundred buildings, each with a brief description, images, site plans, and selected floor plans and sections.
