The way of the Atlantic Salomon

Since I grew up on the Rhine, I have witnessed how, in the stories of my grandparents, the Rhine turned from a bathing paradise into a filthy broth. In my childhood it was still said that you can get a rash from the water and for swimming the flow speed is much too high. The current is still too strong and in some places unpredictable, but there are places where you can go in up to your waist in the summer and the water is clear. The Rhine salmon is unfortunately extinct at this time, but efforts are being made to reintroduce the Atlantic salmon into the Rhine. Unfortunately still with little success, because water quality is not everything for this sensitive wandering fish.

With this free work I have illustrated the wandering of the salmon and provided with exciting information. If you want to see the other illustrations: https://jennifer-van-de-sandt.de/portfolio-item/sachillustration-der-lachs/
