Play One®
SUMMARY
Play One is a music platform that brings fans and artists closer together. Play One initially came to us with a simple UI/UX task, but upon completion, they were so impressed by the results, they commissioned us to create an entirely new design concept for their site. The design had to differ as much as possible from their competitors' platforms while appealing to their young, modern, and NFT/art-collecting audience.

CLIENT
Play One was created to connect artists and fans in one place, making dialog between them easy, transparent, and fun. Artists can post everything on their ‘board’, and fans buying their art can highlight it on their own board - creating personal and highly diverse collections.
STUDY
50%
As reported by Fortune, the typical total revenue split is 50/50—with only 50% of revenue going to the entertainer and the rest shared among agents, lawyers, and distributors.
$10K
NFTs have the potential to ensure that musicians are more fairly compensated for their work. Consider a personal anecdote by Linkin Park’s Mike Shinoda, who raised about $11,000 for his first NFT
1rst
Last year, Kings of Leon became the first band to release an album as an NFT. Music can even be combined with digital art in jpeg or gif formats to create unique pieces of artwork with music incorporated.
$25b
NFT sales volume totaled $25 billion in 2021, compared to just $95 million in 2020. Already in 2022, daily sales on Opensea, the popular peer-to-peer marketplace for NFT, have reached all-time highs.
CHALLENGE
The client approached us with a partially finished product prototype created by another design agency. Our main task was to analyze these prototypes, identify any logical inconsistencies and eliminate them - all while bearing the best UI/UX practices in mind to optimize overall functionality.
STRATEGY
The analysis we conducted revealed a huge number of gaps in most key parts of the system. We proposed to rebuild the entire prototype, and started rebuilding it from the ground up.
Despite the fact that the product had only three user groups (creator, subscriber, representative), the user overlap and the overall number of chances for interacting between them were considerably large. To account for this, each user group had its own journey maps created. These were then connected, after several hours of prototyping, to each other to illustrate the different ways each user could experience the platform.
NFT
Play One also contains an NFT Marketplace, allowing artists to sell their art as tokenized digital items that fans can buy, own, and trade. This opens the door to another unique medium of conversation and interaction between artists and fans, and also creates an additional income stream for both artists and fans.
SOLUTIONS
All decisions throughout the project were made after interviewing a focus group, which were given several options of potential prototypes and designs. There were many ways of showcasing the platform, which led us to create three different design concepts for the client to choose from and combine. Once approved, we developed the dark mode of the platform and started implementing the new design concept.
RESULT
Before coming to us, Play One had spent a year figuring out their design language, and brand identity, flushing out the visual components, and defining their GTM strategy. After working with us, our UI/UX audit and subsequent design concern helped to clean up the wireframes created by a previous design team, making the user experience much smoother, logical, and enjoyable.r text here...
