Uncle Jimmy's Lunchbox

***STORY TIME****
One of the first—if not the first—male influences in my life was Jimmy Jones. We’re not related by blood, but he’s all the best parts of a dad/grandad/uncle wrapped into one.
When I was very young, he had an Igloo Lunchmate that he took to work with him at the Goodyear factory in Gadsden, Alabama. He had drawn “JESUS IS LORD” on the side in bubble letters. I was obsessed with these letters. He showed me how to draw them and from about age 4 to age 7, I just drew “JESUS IS LORD” all over everything. This was the spark of my relationship with letters, and now I draw letters professionally.
Here’s my homage to Uncle Jimmy’s lunchbox. Shoutout to Uncle Jimmy. I love you.
