Forgottonia Logo and Branding

Macomb Area Convention and Visitor's Bureau, located in the Western, IL, needed a new name and branding to promote McDonough County as a tourist area. The goal was to bring in visitors looking for a short road trip getaway to unplug, to unwind, and to slow down.

The Forgottonia nickname was created in the 20th Century when Western Illinois was forgotten by the modernization and industrialization of new interstate superhighways that left this agricultural region behind.

As a result of this abandonment, Forgottonia became a place that preserved its  natural and cultural environment making it an unforgettable destination for those looking for peace and rest from their busy lives. The surrounding area held true to its historic charm making one feel like they are going back in time to the 40s and 50s. This gives tourists a true break from today’s fast paced society.

The logo was designed to communicate this nostalgic feeling using a logotype with earthy colors and a touch of vintage style. The logo was carried through into stationary and a brand style guide for the organization to stay on track with the new branding.
