GODDESS OF DESTRUCTION
GODDESS KALI
The Great Mother Destroyer Goddess Kali is my favorite goddess in the Indian God and Goddess pantheon.
She is known for her Beauty and the Fear her name inflicts fear in the hearts of all most everyone who has heard her tales and her general appearance is quite fierce and sexual is also one of the many reasons for people not accepting her among the more stereotypical gods and goddess. She not only represents the wild feminine nature but also the bountiful and nurturing mother nature. Like Gaya, she is very testing but also very giving.
I truly enjoyed making this portrait of her and will be creating more of her.
TECHNIQUE
The paper cut-out technique is something I have truly enjoyed working with on the digital medium mainly for the reason that
it is much easier to create dimensions with this technique.
in comparison to actual paper it's less time-consuming.
enhances the illustration 100x.
funny but real fact that zero paper cuts.
COLOR PALETTE
For this artwork, I used much more subdued colors.
Her dark skin is said to have the tint of the evening sky this dark blue is the color of the skin she is often depicted in. Commonly she has dark/black hair but I decided to go for reds because I have not used blood in the work which is always dripping from her tongue since I wanted to keep it minimal and blood would look too gory, so I decided to go for red hair to enhance her fierceness.
