OP - 2

This is the OP-2 a rendition of the Teenage Engineering OP-1 one of my all time favourite pieces of Industrial design, its always been a dream of mine ( It's Weird I know ) To work with the OP-1 and teenage engineering and now that my rendering skill have come to a place I'm sincerely proud of, I figured it was time to try creating the OP-2 ( Black ). Modelled and rendered in Blender, Photo touch ups in Lightroom and text added in Figma.

This render was about rendering the OP-2 in an industrial setting, highlighting the industrial design of the product. With special consideration of creating textures with reflective depth, and orange peel. I took careful consideration of making it feel like there was only a small lamp illuminating just the subject, and I did so by placing a cone around the point light to create deeper vertical focus and increase the fall off.

This simple but effective render puts the OP-2 front and centre, but with careful consideration for the depth of shadows and the shadow angle, ensuring that the product still had some gravity and drama. The burnt orange background was a natural fit and it contrasts so well with the black OP-2.

This render was focused on showing the modularity of the project by spacing components out on the X axis and having them supported by small metallic cables, then placing it in a void makes the OP-2 the focal point, the reflection was the cherry on top.

This render was about displaying the product in a more realistic setting, the setting design was inspired by the work of studio Tendril, especially the Polygonal ceiling and lighting positioning. Showing the product on screen intentionally showcases the marketing, IRL aspirations of these designs.

This was just for the art. I had the idea of combining some of tubular elements from a Rube Goldberg projects into the renders. So I layered the pipes over the OP-2 obscuring the synthesizer, which I think really adds to the design and generates a bit of mystery. Additionally, this has to be the most photorealistic render I've ever done, and I'm not sure why. The right combination of factors sometimes comes together to create strikingly real settings.
