Abjectivity, part 2
The intention of this project was to capture the essence of abjectivity and the large role it plays in the structure of migrant illegality.
I sought to capture the ways that abjectivity, as a social condition, can negatively affect undocumented migrant populations by impacting an individual’s health, social life, and economic stability. Looking at the piece itself, it features a series of two collages meant to be seen side by side. This second panel reflects the life of abjectivity faced by an undocumented immigrants.
Both collages feature work from undocumented, and Latinx artists such as Jay Lynn Gomez, Aliza Nisenbaum, Myisha Arellano, Hector Duarte, Favianna Rodriguez, and Julio Salgado.
