I Hate Receipts: Receipt Screens

At some point everyone faces the “George Costanza” problem: an overflowing wallet stuffed with the printed evidence of every dollar spent. Whether it’s a parent managing finances for their family or a busy professional saving receipts to report expenses, receipts are a part of daily life.

I Hate Receipts knew there had to be a better way — and they took it one step further. Not only did they envision a powerful receipt organization and classification system, they also wanted to analyze and digitize the data on the paper itself. By doing so, they could unlock powerful insights into spending for consumers and merchants alike. 

We collaborated closely with I Hate Receipts to bring the entire data ecosystem to life. We started with a Product Design Sprint to brainstorm direction for the mobile app, test the most crucial features with consumers, and design a tested, proven product. From that design, we were able to rapidly prototype a Minimal Viable Product that helped I Hate Receipts gain early customer traction and investment. We continued to help design and build their iOS and Android mobile apps.
