The New "Free" Experience - Spotify ReDesign

This was a fun project I did to redesign Spotify, and to recreate the "free" experience.

I interviewed 9 people from the 21-33 age range: iTunes, Pandora, Spotify, and one Grooveshark user. I asked them what they liked about their current music app experience, what they could do to change it, what kind of music they like, where they generally use the app, etc.

New Features

Shorter sign up process:
Most people I've interviewed did not like the sign up process - some wouldn't even use Spotify in the first place because of it. I've eliminated the DOB and Gender and stuck with just an Email, Username, and Password to make life easier.

Homepage:
This displays your recently played songs. The current Spotify app does not have a home directory page.

Top Bar:
I've added the search on top, so users do not have to press the menu bar every time.

Menu Bar:
A new Language feature for users who want to change their language preferences. Profile is also emphasized more.

Likes Menu:
Allows you to delete past likes to customize your radio experience.

Songs:
The new "free" experience now allows you to be able to pick up to 6 songs to play, to get a taste of what Spotify Premium is like.

New "Moods" Option:
Instead of the "mood" playlists Spotify provides for you, the new experience goes by your taste in music and creates different mood playlists for you. Sort of like Genius, but better.
