Betty Davis queen of funk

Crop of Betty Davis illustration the queen of funk, part of the redrawing black history with Lila Rogers. Based on her song 'If i'm in luck I might get picked up' I wanted to include the powerful lyric of "I said i'm wigglin' my fanny" as Betty was often not allowed to be played on the radio or shown live as her music was known to be too provocative & not a positive black role model for the time.

I feel the energy of funk music comes through with this illustration, I loved drawing in this pose as I feel it gives her a lot power and energy.

I was also experimenting with hand lettering trying to push myself past my normal go to styles.
