Dog Walking Case Study
Dog Owners sometimes need help caring for and walking their dogs. The task was to create a service that connected dog owners with dog walkers. We met with a dog owner to see what her frustrations were....
Set about to interview people, who had the same frustrations and would offer additional insight on what we could do to simplify the app.
Putting it together - I started to work with what people were looking for. Someone who could be there quickly, because they lived close by. Someone who had the training to administer medicine or comfort to a dog who might have anxiety issues. Someone that could be trusted with a member of the family.
1. Focused onboarding outlining the app's benefits
2. Guarantee seemed very important, lending some confidence to the user.
3. Wanted simple, easy to follow instructions for the user.
4. Sign-in pages are standard with registration/log-in & social media connections.
5. Introduced more screens, with less information for smooth transitions.
6. Structured page to have booking button within thumbs reach.
7. Standardized button locations on each page to enhance speed in navigation.
Holy Hanna!
Great, put some color to it and send the prototype out for testing.
Tried all three color combinations and the third got the best response...I could have played around more with the typography, however time was a factor.
Many iterations later...rather than adding more, I began to simplify the app and cut the chaff down to a very simple design- easy peasy lemon squeezy! Test users found navigation much easier.
So, lets see if my tasks were met:
Trust- supplied a guarantee and a method of contacting the walker.
Training - Information page and list of credentials for the walker
Location & Availability - Automatically presents a walker by location.
Dribbble Product Design Course
It was a very intense program with far more information than you could possibly soak up in 12 weeks. I thoroughly enjoyed this program, learned a lot and wish to thank my mentor, Natalie Veretenyk, for her unwavering support and guidance in my new adventure into design.
