What are Shola Forests?
Sheltered in the valleys, these forests get their name from the South Indian term 'Solai', meaning tropical rain forest. Their upper reaches are called Shola Grasslands and are covered with tall grass. The Shola Forests are rich storehouses of biodiversity, home to a plethora of wildlife and stunningly beautiful to view.
