World Empires — Power of Contemporary States, Nations and Empire
This infographic is our version of Histomap, published by Rand McNally in 1931. It was an ambitious attempt to fit a mountain of historical information onto a five-foot-long poster. John Spark's creation is an admirable attempt to make the story more accessible and entertaining.
Today, we seemingly have unlimited access to information, but in the 1930s, an all-encompassing timeline of history would have been incredibly useful and innovative. Our initial attempt showcases empires from 1000 A.D. to the present day. We've updated the colour palette and critical shapes to make it more colourful and lovely.
Cuantica is a design studio based in Stockholm that counts things and presents them beautifully. Our posters are made in museum-quality, giclée-printed in a matte finish on archival, acid-free paper.
