What we did for this project:
The Challenge
Migrate and optimize a website without interrupting the customer experience.
While the primary goal was migrating the website — including all customer data, product information, and order histories — from Magento 1 Open Source to Magento 2 Commerce Cloud (Enterprise), Samuel Hubbard Shoe Co. and Vonnda identified the opportunities to make the site more robust, easier to use, and more tailored to their customers. We found ways to efficiently and seamlessly migrate the website — all while building custom integrations and extensions to better suit Samuel Hubbard’s and their customer’s needs.
The Solution
Custom solutions for an unparalleled customer experience.
To start, we made a plan to migrate product info, customer data, and order history from Magento 1 to Magento 2 so that the customer experience wouldn’t be interrupted during the migration.
Once we had that migration plan in place, we looked for ways to improve the customer experience, site performance, and back-end capabilities.
To improve the shopping experience for customers, we built a custom ElasticSearch integration for quick and easy product filtering, and integrated automatic RMA label generation from UPS so customers can easily print shipping labels and return products. To improve site speed and performance, we customized the swatch image selection so the site doesn’t need to reload the product image each time a customer selects a shoe size, color, or width. Finally, we developed a custom extension called Associated Configurable Products for easier, more flexible merchandise management on the back-end.
