Empire Summer 22 Cover

Brief

I was asked by Empire to create an isometric (Wimmelbild) scene of a fake Hollywood studio, showcasing some of the film and TV releasing Summer '22 (list was provided).

With isometric, you don't have to worry about perspective, so I just draw things quickly, then place them quickly knowing I can move them later and add more details too.

This job had a week turnaround, so I started with a rough and updated the client every couple of days.

Things I learnt in highschool tech drawing are useful, as I project most images from front view to isometric.

When it comes to isometric people though; to save time and money; I just use stand-ins and then place the actual actors in later.

There are about 30 references in here. Can you find them all? The fun thing with wimmelbild scenes like this is adding easter eggs. I had a few more, but had to take them out on account of being 'off-brief' 😅
