MaxMail - Design concept for email client
Design Brief
Users are bombarded with email so much so that emails that require to be actioned are often lost in the pile and ignored. The goal was to design an email client that will keep the users focused on key mails, help them to save time and work more efficiently.
The Challenge
The Process
Market Research
I researched some of the email clients already available in the market to identify and compare the various features offered by them. The feature analysis is presented below.
Persona
Based on my findings from the market research, the persona of Sasha was developed. She is a busy professional who communicates with her clients primarily via email and wants that to be more efficient.
User flow
The user flow addresses two of the key problems - the ability to use canned messages the responding to emails and the ability to schedule the sending of emails at specific times.
Low-fi Sketches
Include multiple images here, showing 1st and 2nd rounds of iterations. Explain what you changed and why.
Low fidelity sketches were developed for the application screens
Wireframes
Mid fidelity wireframes were developed in Figma. The initial designs were further fine-tuned to come up with the final design. Overall the design was minimalistic and focus was on efficiency.
Visual Designs
I chose simple and professional looking colours for the colour theme. The threaded email conversation was presented in a text/chat like view.
User Feedback
During the user testing it was found that the Send Later feature was not simple for the user to choose the scheduled time. The scheduling popup was re-designed to make it more intuitive
Outcome / Results
This is the first project where I designed a desktop client application. The process of research, design and testing taught me the differences in mobile and web app design to this desktop client application needs
