Milwaukee Art Museum - An-My Lê - On Contested Terrain
Art direction and design for the An-My Lê exhibition at the Milwaukee Art Museum. The main photo is the entrance and title wall. 30 foot cloudscape, cropped from one of An-My Lê's photos, across the top of the glass with the show title on the lower glass and her name set on a wall inside the hall itself.
“An-My Lê: On Contested Terrain is the first comprehensive survey of the work of celebrated photographer An-My Lê (American, b. Vietnam, 1960). The nationally touring exhibition features large-format black-and-white and color photographs from across Lê’s career, which she has dedicated to exploring the complexity that envelops war.”
Working with the Museum’s exhibition designer, David Russick, it was immediately apparent that a minimalism on a maximalist scale approach would be appropriate in framing Lê’s expansive and provocative photography.
Along with the exhibition graphics, I did layouts for all digital and print advertising for the exhibition.
