Logo Design for House of the Rising Sun

Logo concept for a New Orleans Brewery/Brewpub and an unconventional community gathering space for revelry, celebration, and social good.

The client envisioned a classic, somewhat sophisticated design that celebrates the spirit of New Orleans and its city pubs.

I came up with a vintage illustration of the venue, above which is a pelican and the rising sun.

The pelican is a symbol of Louisiana that’s featured on its flag and seal, because the state’s early settlers were impressed with the bird’s generous, nurturing attitude toward their young.

Therefore, I thought depicting it was a great way to convey the brand’s community and social justice orientation.
